Fielding works in every season — I've shot here in summer sun, fall colour, overcast skies, rain, and snow — and it holds up in all of them. Having shot here repeatedly, here's my honest take on how to plan around it.

Book your portraits for golden hour. The late-afternoon light at Fielding is the best part of the venue — the trails, lake, and clearings around the pavilion turn genuinely spectacular in that last hour of sun, in any season.

The interior lighting is a real limitation. The pavilion's wood walls and ceiling cast a warm yellow tone indoors, which looks lovely in person but is hard to correct in photos if the space isn't already well-lit. Make sure your photographer knows how to manage this — it's the one part of Fielding that doesn't photograph as easily as the grounds do.

Consider an outdoor reception. If I could change one thing about how couples use this venue, it would be moving the reception outside. Fielding's real strength is its surroundings, and an outdoor reception makes the most of that instead of spending the evening inside under warm-toned lighting.
